Art, design and culture in Chiemgau
For those who want to soak up some culture as well as relax in nature, there are also numerous opportunities in and around Aschau.
Hohenaschau Castle
Hohenaschau Castle is only about a 15-minute walk away. At certain times, you can experience fascinating falconry shows there. At the foot of the castle, just a few steps away from berge, is the Festhalle—a lively venue for art and cultural events.
Nils Holger Moormann
Aschau is also home to the furniture manufacturer Nils Holger Moormann – the origin of berge. The company stands for minimalist design, regional production, and cleverly thought-out details. In the listed company building, you can not only discover designer furniture, but also take a look behind the scenes. In typical Moormann style, with a subtle wink. Whether you explore the former carriage house and stables on your own or join a guided tour is up to you.

Gallery in the old town hall, Prien
Since the mid-19th century, Lake Chiemsee, with its islands and impressive Alpine backdrop, has been considered a refuge for painters—a place that inspired artists from near and far and soon gained national significance as a “painter’s paradise.” In keeping with this tradition, the gallery in the Old Town Hall was founded in Prien am Chiemsee in 1985. Since then, it has been one of the region’s outstanding cultural institutions and has made an important contribution to the preservation and further development of the artistic heritage in Chiemgau.

The Lokschuppen is an exhibition center in downtown Rosenheim, which was created in 1988 by converting the machine house of the first railway maintenance workshop in Rosenheim.
The exhibition center was opened in 1988 with the state exhibition “Die Bajuwaren” (The Bavarians). One year later, Veranstaltungs- & Kongress GmbH Rosenheim took over the operation and marketing of the exhibition center. Since then, various exhibitions have been held annually in these unique premises.
