berge is not easy to describe. berge is deliberately not many things: it is not a luxury hotel, nor is it a resort. There is no Michelin-starred cuisine, no television, and only the bare essentials. In keeping with Nils Holger Moormann’s philosophy, we have omitted everything that is superfluous. Instead, our guests can expect the simplicity and comfort of a very special kind of hostel. Each of our 17 rooms has its own character with quirks. Those who love the mountains accept their conditions.

Every detail has been designed with passion and consistency. Unusual floor plans, natural building materials, overlaps, and shifts bear witness to the 354-year-old history of berge. Generous proportions and interesting sightlines with plenty of light and open space, combined with high-quality furnishings and designer furniture, make berge a very special place that you simply have to experience for yourself. It is not without reason that berge welcomes its guests with the words “endure freedom,” because here you can feel freedom, clarity, and authenticity.
